# RecapMuse: record, transcribe, and remember your meetings, on your Mac

RecapMuse, by Epiphani Studios, is a native Mac meeting-memory app. It records calls and
in-person conversations with NO bot joining the call, transcribes live entirely on-device,
and turns every conversation into a searchable, speaker-labeled Diary that stays on the
user's Mac. Individual is $14.99/month billed annually ($179.88/year), with $99 for a first
year through 2026-09-30; pricing is published and needs no sales call. iPhone + Apple Watch

## What it does (mechanism, not adjectives)

- No-bot capture: records system audio natively on the Mac, so every call platform and
  in-person conversation is covered the same way; nothing joins the call.
- Live transcription runs 100% on-device (Apple's speech engine); there is no network call
  in that path, on any tier. Works with no account and no API key.
- Optional always-on rolling buffer with auto-purge retention and a disk cap, so the start
  of an unplanned conversation is never lost.
- Microphone capture uses a shared-mode tap that never changes the default input device,
  so dictation tools keep working simultaneously.
- The Diary: titled, speaker-labeled entries with summary and action items. Stated exactly:
  this step currently sends that recording's audio to OpenAI using the user's OWN key from
  the Mac Keychain (no vendor account or server in the path); a selectable fully-local
  engine mode exists, and a fully on-device default is the stated next step.
- Recall: search by word, speaker, or date; People and Topics grouping; a local Recap
  digest; Ask answers questions over the archive on-device (local model or extractive
  fallback), with no network either way; summary sentences cite their transcript source.

## AI-assistant integration (shipping today)

- One click in Settings connects Claude Desktop via a local connector (a small server
  inside the app): the user's AI can list conversations, read full transcripts, search the
  archive, and ask questions over it.
- The connector is local and read-only: it reads Diary files on the Mac, opens no network
  socket, makes no cloud call, and has no write or delete tools. Disconnect any time from
  the same Settings card.
- Why the shape matters: a cloud notetaker's AI requires meetings to live on the vendor's
  servers first. This connector answers from files on the user's own Mac.

## Privacy and data control

- No vendor account, no vendor server; recordings and the library live on the user's Mac.
- Files outlive the subscription: if it lapses, the user keeps everything.
- Maximum-privacy mode stops the cloud Diary step entirely (fully on-device operation).
- Backups write smart-named Markdown (summary + transcript, optional audio) to the user's
  OWN iCloud Drive or Dropbox folder; sync never runs through a vendor account.

- Mac only today; no Windows or web version. The iPhone/Watch companion is private testing.
- Vertical editions are product previews; no distinct edition, billing, or features exist yet.
- No CRM integrations today; Markdown/JSON export and the local AI connector are the
  shipping integration surfaces.
- No formal HIPAA agreement program today.
- Recording-consent laws vary by jurisdiction; following them is the user's responsibility.
